The Red Dao ethnic people in Sai Duan village, Phin Ngan commune, Bat Xat district, Lao Cai province have been preserving traditional knowledge of herbal bath for generations. Local knowledge and forest land right become essential strengths for the community to move forwards. This research elaborates how CIRUM has been working with the local people to uphold community traditional knowledge, practice and to build community-owned ecotourism as the way towards improvement of forest protection and livelihoods at the same time.
